Late night drinking, white wine thinking
Singing out like drunken fools
You found you were believing the books you’d been reading
You couldn’t stop seeing the stories you’d been dreaming
So you went to New York just to get away
And you found out things really were the same
Can we ever get away?
Long nights musing, seems confusing
Fighting rhythms to find the time
You found you were after the music in the rafters
Riding a chapter in the stories you'd been dreaming
Still you went to New York just to get away
And you found out things really were the same
Can you ever get away?
All night driving
Your strength’s been dying
You couldn’t take it, so you head for home
You said we were drifting
I couldn’t tell for sure
If we were standing or we were moving at all
